Firkin Tapping

Join us in a new Draught House tradition - the occasional tapping of a firkin keg! Some background: firkin beer is unpasteurized and naturally carbonated and conditioned inside the firkin through the use of active yeast. It is typically served at a slightly warmer temperature than usual to allow for the yeast to stay active and keep the beer carbonated. In terms of size, a firkin is equal to just under 11 gallons...so don't miss out!

This week's firkin beer is a Blood Orange Tea Pale Ale!

This American style pale ale is enhanced with copious amounts of Earl Grey tea leaves. The black leaves are added to the whirlpool which extracts the earthy tea qualities, and bergamot oil adds a citrusy element that makes Earl Grey so distinct. If it couldn’t get any better, we primed and conditioned this pale ale with blood orange juice in the cask.
