We're excited to start off the 2015 Weathervane series with Guy on a Buffalo, a Coffee Stout. This is the third year that we have brewed this beer, and both coffee and beer lovers should give it a try. We started off by brewing 80 barrels of stout using chocolate, carafa, and caramel malts, as well as summit hops for bittering. After fermentation, our friends at Montana Coffee Traders turned 160 lbs of coffee beans into a cold brew extract (which was delicious on its own). We added the coffee extract to the beer in the brite tank, and then beer was carbonated and packaged. It's always exciting to brew using different techniques and ingredients, and as a coffee lover, I'm glad we could combine these two great drinks.
Guy on a Buffalo is very sessionable, has a 5.4% ABV, and is the perfect beer for mid-morning (or breakfast). It is available in 22 ounce bottles and on draft. The stout has a nice thick tan head, and the coffee flavor and aroma goes well with the roasted flavor of the beer. We hope you enjoy!
